Aromatherapy Properties: A pale yellow mobile liquid with a fresh, warm-spicy, herbaceous, somewhat camphoraceous odor. It blends well with lavender, rosemary, rosewood, hyssop, lemon and other citrus oils. This common sage oil is preferred in perfumery over traditional Spanish sage due to having a more refined fragrance.

Spiritual Uses: Sage has a long history of use for purification and the clearing of negative or stagnant energy. It is also a good choice for magickal protection, and with its Earth associations, is naturally grounding. It is a fine choice for those pursuing knowledge of traditional witchcraft, and is one of the plants used in the celebration of Samhain. History: Likely brought from Egypt through Rome to Europe, Sage has been used since antiquity for a multitude of purposes including increasing fertility in women and protection from evil. Charlemagne himself recommended Sage for cultivation during the early Middle Ages. During medieval times, Sage had one of the loftiest reputations of any plant, and was thought to cure virtually all ailments, as well as to protect from plague. Today, Sage is widely used in culinary applications. It is also being investigated as a treatment for Alzheimer’s patients.
