Aromatherapy Properties: With a beautiful woody, floral fragrance, Rosewood is a relaxing oil.  A colorless or pale yellow liquid with a very sweet, woody-floral scent and a spicy hint. It blends well with most oils, especially citrus, woods and florals. As a toner in scent blending, it helps give body and rounds off sharp edges.

History: Some true Rosewoods, such as Brazilian, have been over-harvested for hundreds of years, and are now on the list of endangered woods. Unfortunately, there is a thriving market for illegally-sourced rainforest Rosewoods (and, in fact, the Gibson guitar factory in Nashville, Tennessee was raided in 2009 for suspected use of illegally-sourced Rosewood in their instruments). Brazilian and other Rosewoods have long been sources of decoctions used for conditions ranging from diarrhea and syphilis to heat rash and mouth sores.
