History: Elemi oil is extracted from the Canarium luzonicum tree, a tropical plant which is now found primarily in the Philippines. The oil was used by the Ancient Egyptians as part of embalming formulas. Other traditions used the resin and oil as part of sacred rituals to clarify and enhance consciousness and to connect the material realm with the realm of the divine.
